Swim Basics
(For non-DAM members only, Adults 18+)

Swim Basics is a month-long swim class specifically designed for those who can comfortably swim the length of a pool (25 yds), but want to improve their level of swimming to include better breathing and freestyle stroke technique.
Swim Basics is held in a small group environment. Individuals are evaluated at the beginning of each class and may be placed in one of two skill levels: Beginning Freestyle or Intermediate. Intermediate swimmers will build on their current swimming skills by learning more advanced freestyle techniques, interval swim sets, pace clock training and much more. At Swim Basics you will:
- Learn the sequence of steps to put together a whole freestyle: balance, streamlining, kick, propulsion and breathing at your own pace
- Build endurance
- Learn turns, drills and short swim sets
- Improve confidence to swim in a masters swim program, open water and triathlon events
All classes offered monthly at the Texins Activity Center in Dallas (LBJ and I-75 area - directions listed below) and includes 8, one hour sessions. The cost: $160

| Directions | TRAVELING SOUTH ON 75: Take 75 south until you reach the Midpark exit. Exit Midpark and turn left at the traffic light. Cross the bridge and turn left again onto the northbound frontage road. Gate 3 will on your right a few feet up the frontage road. Enter at Gate 3; show ID to Officer at Guard House. The Texins Activity Center is located on your left directly after the Guard House. TRAVELING NORTH ON 75: Exit Midpark Road. Pass through Midpark Road light. Gate 3 will be on your right a few feet up the frontage road. Enter at Gate 3; show ID to officer at guardhouse. The Texins Activity Center is located on your left directly after the guardhouse. TRAVELING WEST ON 635: Exit Greenville/TI Blvd. Pass through Greenville Ave light, stay to the right. Turn right at TI Blvd sign, this circles back. Turn left at light. Continue on TI Blvd until you come to Gate 6. Enter at Gate 6; show ID to officer at guardhouse. Turn right at the intersection just after the guardhouse. Continue straight until you see the Texins Activity Center located at the far north end of the site. TRAVELING EAST ON 635: Exit TI Blvd exit as you pass under 75. Take a left at the light. Continue on TI Blvd until you come to Gate 6. Enter at Gate 6, show ID to officer at guardhouse. Turn right at the intersection just after the guardhouse. Continue straight until you see the Texins Activity Center located at the far north end of the site. |
