2012 DAM Trip to Maui

DAM Block Room Rate: $220 per night plus 13.41% tax for Run of House (best available at check-in) or $240 per night plus 13.41% tax for Run of Ocean (guaranteed ocean view room). All rates are based on single or double occupancy. Eighty percent of all rooms at the Sheraton are ocean view. There will be an additional charge of $80 plus tax for any adult 18 & over in a room (for a third person). The maximum number of persons per room is four adults or two adults and two children. The daily $25 resort fee is waived this year for our group! Check-in time is 3:00pm and check-out time is 11:00am. Deposit: A two night deposit is required to reserve a room. The hotel will honor the group room rate 3 days prior and 3 days post. Deposit will be refunded if the reservation is cancelled no later than seven (7) days prior to the arrival date.

Maui Channel Relay Swim -Saturday, September 1, 2012 - http://www.mauichannelswim.com

The Maui Channel Swim is the only inter-island relay event in the world! The swim begins on the island of Lanai and finishes at Kaanapali beach on Maui. Each relay is made up of six swimmers, each swimming for 30 minutes. Once all six swimmers have completed their 30-minute rotation each will then swim 10-minute shifts until they have completed the swim. Coach Bobby Patten puts together the teams and will handle getting each team an escort boat and competent skipper to guide you and your team mates successfully across the beautiful blue water of the Maui Channel.

The 'Aumakua Swim is a 2.4 mile or 1 mile individual swim along the Wailea coast. To register for this race go to http://www.aumakuaswim.org/.

Waikiki Roughwater Swim - Monday, September 3, 2012 - Another option for competitive open water swimmers. This race takes place on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, HI - To register for this race go to http://www.wrswim.com.

If you are not registered for 2012 USMS membership you will need to register to swim these races. North Texas swimmers may register at http://www.ntmasters.org.

Cost - EARLY event registration fee - $399 if received by April 30, 2012. (registration will be available as soon as MCS posts race entry form)
includes Maui Channel swim entry fee, boat rental, post race banquet, DAM Team t-shirt, MCS race t-shirt and dinner Thursday evening for the swimmer.
Regular event registration fee - $419 if received by May 25, 2012 - To receive priority race team assignments, all race registrations must be paid in full by May 25^th. Each team is a 6 person team.
Late event registration fee - $469 if received by June 15, 2012. Race registrations received after May 25^th will be placed on a team as needed.

Team Dinner - There will be a pre-race team meeting and dinner on Thursday, Aug 30 at the Sheraton Maui. The cost of the dinner is included in the race event fee for the Maui Channel Swimmer. Guests may attend for an additional cost of $40.00 per guest. Please consider becoming a DAM Party host for this event:
A'u Party Host - $150.00 donation
Mano Party Host - $250.00 donation
Big Kahuna Host - $350.00 donation

Maui Event Cancellation Policy - full refund less $75 processing fee before June 15, 2012. After June 15th the relay fees are non-refundable. The Sheraton Maui has a 7-day cancel policy on hotel reservations.

First time MCS Swimmers - Please contact Bobby Patten by email. Ocean swimming presents many unique challenges. DAM would like to ensure safety and a successful Maui Channel experience for all participants. We strongly recommend that you arrive in Maui on Wednesday to allow yourself a minimum of 3 practice oceans swims before the race on Saturday. DAM has group led practice swims on Thursday afternoon, Friday morning and Friday afternoon at the beach at the Sheraton Maui. We will offer a Novice ocean swim clinic on Thursday morning as well.
